Report: IPhone 6 Release Date September 9

(RTTNews) - Apple has scheduled a media event for Tuesday, September 9, leading many industry experts to speculate that the Cupertino based company will unveil its latest iPhone then.

The next gen device is expected to feature larger displays of 4.7 and 5.5 inches and run on new A8 processors.

CNBC tech blog Re/code reports that September 9 is indeed the date for release.

Last week, 9 to 5 Mac reported that Apple was "tentatively" planning a keynote address in mid September to announce the iPhone 6 and provide details on iOS 8. The report came from "sources briefed on the plans."

A conflicting report by Metro notes that "production related to its sapphire glass display along with simple consumer anticipation to maximize sales are two reasons" that the new phone will be delayed until October.

Various reports have jumped on the October bandwagon, noting October 14th as the release date - leaked to the press by an unknown source after being announced by a senior official from the Apple Store in a meeting.

Apple typically announces a new iPhone model after an iPhone's release, meaning that 2014 should see the release of the iPhone 6.
