Trump Accuses Google Of Hiding "Good" News
(RTTNews) - In a pair of early morning Twitter posts on Tuesday, President Donald Trump accused Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOGL) Google of rigging its search results in order to suppress conservative voices and hide "good" news about his presidency.
Trump claimed Google search results for "Trump News" show only reporting by the so-called "Fake New Media" and said the situation "will be addressed!"
"They have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal?" Trump tweeted.
Trump alleged 96 percent of search results for "Trump News" are from left-wing media, appearing to reference a recent report by conservative blog PJ Media.
The report from PJ Media claimed left-leaning sites comprised 96 percent of the total results when conducting a Google search for "Trump."
"Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good," Trump tweeted. "They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!"
Following the president's tweets, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow told reporters the administration is "taking a look" at imposing regulations on Google.
The tweets from Trump come as executives from Google and social media giants Facebook (FB) and Twitter (TWTR) have been called to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee next week to discuss censorship and foreign efforts to influence U.S. politics.
