Solae Introduces Supro(R)Plus Products as Dairy Alternatives
ST. LOUIS, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Two new dairy ingredient alternatives from Solae -- Supro(R)Plus 9000 and Supro(R)Plus 9040 -- are coming to the rescue for food manufacturers experiencing rising dairy prices.
Supro(R)Plus 9000 and 9040 join the already impressive portfolio of isolated soy protein products designed as economic alternatives to nonfat dry milk and whole milk powder, respectively. Both products offer similar protein, fat, carbohydrate and calcium profiles as the milk proteins they are designed to replace, providing user-friendly alternatives and ease of formulation advantages. Based on high-quality soy protein, they are also equivalent to milk protein in nutritional quality.
"Like Solae's other dairy alternative products, Supro(R)Plus 9000 and 9040 offer cost-saving opportunities, versatility in application and user friendliness," said Will Black, Solae senior director of global strategy. "These healthy and affordable products are excellent dairy ingredient alternatives for beverages, nutrition bars, beverage mixes, bakery mixes and dairy-type systems. With the current volatile market conditions surrounding dairy pricing and availability, Supro(R)Plus 9000 and 9040 offer opportunities for food manufacturers to improve product margins without sacrificing product quality or nutrition."
During the past year, prices of basic dairy commodities such as nonfat dry milk, whole milk powder and casein have more than doubled in price, according to Dairy Market News. Strong international demand for dairy ingredients is just one factor causing buyers to worry about future supply and leading industry experts to predict prices will remain elevated for the foreseeable future.
"Companies have relied on our soy protein products as effective alternatives to dairy proteins for many years," Black said. "The current market conditions are causing renewed interest in looking at soy protein for its economic advantages, including supply stability and price predictability, versus dairy proteins."
Supro(R)Plus 9000 and 9040 have been developed to expand upon the range of solutions Solae can offer food manufacturers to help control formulation costs and improve profitability, added Black.
"In many applications, we can replace all or a portion of the dairy proteins used, maintaining traditional taste, texture and nutrition while delivering significant cost savings," Black said. "With a wide portfolio of soy protein-based solutions and technical expertise to guide food manufacturers on how to optimize their use in formulation, we can quickly execute initiatives to improve the profitability of current brands or execute new product programs that meet margin targets."
