Boeing Co. (BA) is rising 3 percent to $126.37. The company's third quarter profit improved from the previous year period. Revenue rose 11 percent and came in above the consensus estimate. The company also raised its full year earnings forecast and confirmed its 2013 revenue guidance.

Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) is rising nearly 1 percent to $50.51. The company's third quarter results topped Wall Street view. The company backed its full-year revenue forecast and tightened its earnings guidance range.

Cole Real Estate Investments, Inc. (COLE) is gaining 16 percent to $14.85 as it agreed to merge with and into a wholly owned subsidiary of American Realty Capital Properties Inc. (ARCP) in a transaction valued at $11.2 billion.

Corning Inc. (GLW) is rising 20 percent to $18.50. The company entered into a series of strategic and financial agreements with Samsung Display Co., Ltd., and will obtain full ownership of Samsung Corning Precision Materials Co., Ltd. The company's board authorized an additional $2 billion of share repurchases. Corning also announced preliminary third-quarter 2013 results.

Decliners:

Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) is falling 4 percent to $85.34. The company's third quarter earnings and revenues declined from the prior year period and missed analysts' expectations. The company also lowered its 2013 guidance and stated that it is holding its outlook for 2014 sales and revenues flat with 2013 in a plus or minus 5 percent range.

Facebook, Inc. (FB) is falling 2 percent to $51.65.

Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) is declining 2 percent to $315.50. Icahn Enterprises, L.P. (IEP) announced the sale of 2.99 million shares of Netflix, Inc. (NFLX). Acitivist investor Icahn continues to hold 4.50 percent stake in Netflix.

Broadcom Corp. (BRCM) is falling 8 percent to $24.90 and Cree, Inc. (CREE) is down 16 percent to $62.15 following the release of their quarterly results.
