GM Recalls About 500K Chevrolet Camaros - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - General Motors Co. (GM) said it would recall 511,528 current generation Chevrolet Camaros cars, particularly in North America, because the driver's knee can bump the key FOB and cause the key to move out of the "run" position, thereby resulting in loss of power.
This defect, which majorly affects drivers sitting close to the steering column, was discovered by GM at the time of internal testing, following the ignition switch recall earlier this year.
The Detroit-based automaker added that the Camaro ignition system meets its engineering specifications and is not related to the ignition system used in Chevrolet Cobalts and other small cars covered in the ignition switch recall. GM said it is aware of three crashes that led to four minor injuries that it believes may be attributed to this condition.
