ExxonMobil's MSDW Lube Technology Selected By S-Oil for Second Applic

    FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 2005--ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE) announced today that S-Oil Corporation has selected EMRE's newest commercialized MSDW(TM) proprietary lube catalytic dewaxing technology for its refinery and lube oil plant located at Onsan, Republic of Korea. This is the second MSDW unit licensed by S-Oil for this location in the last two years. Both units are running successfully and meeting all product quality expectations. This second MSDW unit called for an aggressive start-up schedule to meet S-Oil's production requirements.
    The selection of MSDW technology provided S-Oil Corporation with the lowest cost option for the production of higher quality lubricant base oils. MSDW technology converts waxy oils and raffinates to conventional or ultra low pour point base oils and provides a significant increase in oil viscosity index. MSDW is already operational at eight locations worldwide. These MSDW applications include grass roots designs, retrofits of existing units and catalyst replacements. In addition, MSDW has been selected for three new grass roots units that are currently in the design phase.
