Clariant's goals for these initiatives are to efficiently managebusiness-critical content, meet strict compliance regulations andstandards, and reduce costs by eliminating local, departmentalsolutions. Clariant selected Stellent Universal Content Managementbecause of its comprehensive functionality and service-orientedarchitecture based on open standards.
"It was vitally important to select as the foundation of our'myDMS' platform a content management solution that could be deployedquickly and efficiently, and was simple enough to be used by allmembers of our staff without extensive training," said MichaelBeckmann, head of non-SAP application development at Clariant."Stellent Universal Content Management enables the company to meetthis goal as it allows business users -- rather than only IT staff --to create and maintain information using standard desktop tools, andsupports the re-use of content and documents across multipleline-of-business applications.
"Stellent's approach to content management best meets ourrequirements. The technology already has a proven track record ofsuccess in various Clariant projects. The experiences gained with theimplementation of the first projects -- which included migrating alegacy document management system for regulatory and quality affairsto the Stellent platform -- provide the basis for a globalstandardization in the areas of knowledge management, documentmanagement, content management, electronic records management andarchiving."
"Clariant made a strategic decision to implement an enterprisecontent management (ECM) platform and has now set the stage for thisproject with its selection of Stellent Universal Content Management,"said David Macey, executive vice president of international sales forStellent. "A Stellent-powered, enterprise-wide document structure andtaxonomy, enhanced with a global security model, now serves as thefoundation for the implementation of additional business processes andapplications at Clariant. Stellent's ECM architecture also allows forfault-tolerant, high-availability configurations enabling Clariant tooperate the Stellent system from its own data center, which is anothersignificant success factor for the deployment. We're exceptionallypleased with Clariant's confidence in our products and will work hardto help ensure further successful implementations in the future, soClariant can reap the substantial return-on-investment they desire asquickly as possible."
