Boston Medical Standardizes Information Technology on Dell to Help Enhance Patient Care

Boston Medical Center has standardized on Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) technology – in patient rooms, at nurses’ stations and labs, in the data center and administrative offices – to enhance its ability to provide quality medical care to every patient. As the area’s largest level-one trauma center, Boston Medical Center relies on high availability of technology applications to manage patient care and hospital operations. The hospital is running its critical applications, including in-patient care records, more than 10,000 Internet-enabled medical devices, e-mail communications and business functions on Dell PowerEdge™ servers. Consolidating on Dell has made purchasing, procurement and management of technology easier, while giving Boston Medical Center the technology infrastructure it needs to enhance care today and into the future. With the assistance of the Dell Services organization, the medical center has also deployed virtualization software on Dell servers, enabling the reduction of testing, development and training servers from 50 to five. Virtualization allows multiple applications and operating systems to run independently on a single server.
