Apple Says Latest IPhones On Pace To Exceed Last Year's First-weekend Sales

(RTTNews) - Apple Inc. (AAPL) said that it is on pace to exceed last year's 10 million unit first-weekend record when new iPhones go on sale September 25. Customer response to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been extremely positive and preorders this weekend were very strong around the world.

"As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6s Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period. We are working to catch up as quickly as we can, and we will have iPhone 6s Plus as well as iPhone 6s units available at Apple retail stores when they open next Friday," the company said.

AAPL is currently trading at $116.14, up $1.93 or 1.69%.

Last week, Apple unveiled its iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus smartphones with a faster processor, new touch capabilities and an improved camera, seeking to woo customers ahead of the holiday season and to assuage investors that its flagship device still has the mojo to sustain growth.

iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be available from September 25 and come in four colors: silver, gray, gold and rose gold. The prices will remain the same as previous iPhone versions.
