Apple Launches IPhone SE, 9.7-inch IPad Pro

(RTTNews) - Apple Inc. (AAPL) Monday unveiled iPhone SE, a new 4-inch smartphone that offers the features of iPhone 6S.

Apple has touted the iPhone SE as "the most powerful phone with a four-inch display." The iPhone SE is like an hybrid version of iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 series, it sports the look, size and design of the former, but delivers the power and specs of the latter.

iPhone SE is powered by the same 64-bit A9 chip offered in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, sports a 12-megapixel iSight camera that can capture 4K video and Live Photos, and also features Touch ID with Apple Pay.

Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said, "iPhone SE is packed with a stunning four-inch Retina display, advanced 64-bit A9 chip with M9 motion co-processor, longer battery life, 12-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone flash, Live Photos, 4K video, faster LTE and Wi-Fi, and Touch ID with Apple Pay. Everyone who wants a smaller phone is going to love iPhone SE."

The new iPhone SE has been priced at $399 for 16GB model and $499 for 64GB. The model is available in space gray, silver, gold and rose gold colors. Pre-orders for iPhone SE begins on March 24 and the phone will be available on March 31.

The iPhone SE will be initially launched in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US.

Apple also launched a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro, a smaller version of its iPad Pro tablet released last year.

Philip Schiller said, "The 9.7-inch iPad Pro has a new Retina display with True Tone technology, four-speaker audio system, blazing fast A9X chip, 12-megapixel iSight camera, 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera, faster wireless, and support for Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. It is the ultimate upgrade for existing iPad users and replacement for PC users."

The new iPad Pro is compatible with the Apple Pencil, similar to the 12.9-inch model.

The new iPad Pro has a 9.7-inch display and weighs less than one pound. The new iPad Pro model will start at $599 for the 32GB model. The pre-orders for new iPad Pro will begin on March 24 and it will be available on March 31.

AAPL is currently trading at $105.82, down $0.10 or 0.09%, on the Nasdaq.
