Swiss Industrial Output Declines In Q1
(RTTNews) - Swiss industrial production declined in the first quarter after recovering a quarter ago, the Federal Statistical Office showed Thursday.
Industrial production fell 0.5 percent from last year after rising 2.1 percent in the prior quarter.
Likewise, production in the secondary sector consisting of industry and construction dropped 0.8 percent year-on-year, reversing a 1.3 percent rise in the prior quarter.
At the same time, turnover in the secondary sector was down 1.8 percent annually versus 0.8 percent rise last quarter. Industrial turnover fell 1.6 percent.
Construction output slid 2.5 percent as it fell 4.2 percent in building and 6.3 percent in civil engineering.
In March, industrial production recorded an annual decline of 4.1 percent, faster than the 3 percent fall seen in February.
