Malaysia Industrial Output Rises At Slower Pace

(RTTNews) - Malaysia's industrial production posted a slower growth in September, figures from the Department of Statistics showed on Friday.

Industrial production increased 2.3 percent year-on-year in September, following a growth of 4.1 percent in the previous month.

Manufacturing and electricity output registered weaker growth and mining logged another fall albeit at a slower pace.

Manufacturing growth more than halved to 3.2 percent from 6.5 percent and electricity output grew only 3.9 percent after a 4.2 percent rise. Meanwhile, the production of the mining sector continued to decline for third consecutive month, down 2.2 percent. On a monthly basis, industrial output fell 0.7 percent compared to last month's 1.7 percent increase.

In the third quarter, industrial output moved up 3.9 percent compared to a 4.5 percent rise seen a quarter ago, data showed.
