Irish Retail Sales Fall 0.2% In October
(RTTNews) - Retail sales in Ireland decreased in October after rising in the previous month, data released by the Central Statistics Office revealed Thursday.
Retail sales volumes decreased 0.2 percent month-on-month in October, reversing the previous month's 0.4 percent increase.
Sales of motor vehicles fell 4.4 percent during the month, while sales of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 1.4 percent. Trade in fuel was lower by 0.5 percent than in September, and clothing and footwear sales down by 2.9 percent.
On an annual basis, overall sales declined 0.9 percent in October. This followed a 1.7 percent increase in September, data showed.
In value terms, retail sales stayed unchanged in October, after recording a 0.4 percent rise in September. Annually, sales fell by 2.1 percent, following September's 0.1 percent gain.
