Germany's Inflation Eases In June
(RTTNews) - Germany's inflation slowed from a 7-month high in June, preliminary data from Destatis showed Monday.
Consumer price inflation eased more-than-expected to 0.3 percent in June from 0.7 percent in May. Economists had forecast it to slow marginally to 0.5 percent. Nonetheless, this was the fifth consecutive rise in consumer prices.
Likewise, the harmonized consumer price index rose 0.1 percent, slower than the 0.7 percent increase seen a month ago and a 0.4 percent rise forecast by economists.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.1 percent in June reversing a 0.1 percent rise in May. At the same time, the HICP was down 0.2 percent. Economists had forecast consumer prices and harmonized prices to gain 0.2 percent each in June.
Final data is due on July 14.
