Georgia Q1 Trade Deficit Widens
(RTTNews) - Georgia's foreign trade deficit for the first quarter widened from a year ago, preliminary figures from the National Statistics Office of Georgia showed Thursday.
The foreign trade deficit increased to $1.131 billion in the first quarter from $1.014 billion in the same period last year. Exports grew 23 percent year-on-year, while imports rose 16 percent.
In the month of March, Georgia's exports rose 23.8 percent from February, when the grew 33.3 percent. Imports increased 15.9 percent monthly, after a 16.1 percent gain in the prior month.
