Georgia July Trade Deficit Narrows
(RTTNews) - Georgia's trade deficit for July contracted from a year-ago, data released by the National Statistics Office showed on Friday.
The trade deficit decreased to $468.3 million in July from $473.3 million recorded in the same month last year. In June, the country recorded a shortfall of $362.8 million.
Exports totaled $240.1 million versus $211.5 million a year ago. Imports increased to $708.4 million from $684.8 million last year.
During the January-June period, the trade deficit was $2.710 billion, down 2 percent from last year. Shipments grew 9 percent, while imports declined 5 percent.
