Cyprus Industrial Production Continues To Fall

(RTTNews) - Industrial production in Cyprus continued its downward trend in September, data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus revealed Thursday.

Industrial production fell 11.6 percent on an annual basis in September, after falling 9.5 percent in August. Production has fallen on a regular basis in recent months.

The downturn was led by a 31.6 percent fall in mining and quarrying production. At the same time, production in the manufacturing sector decreased by 11.6 percent. Production and supply of electricity was lower by 10.1 percent than in September 2012.

In the January-September period, overall industrial production plunged 13 percent from the corresponding period of last year, data showed.
