Moody's: Catalunya's Independence Aspirations Currently Have No Impact on Region's and Spain's Ratings
London, 06 March 2014 -- Late last year Catalunya's political parties agreed to hold a referendum on independence from the Spanish state on 9 November 2014. Although Moody's expects the topic of Catalan independence to gain further prominence over the coming months, the rating agency sees Catalunya's independence as a low-probability event over the next two to three years. Hence, at this stage, Catalan independence aspirations are not a driver of the ratings of Spain and Catalunya, says Moody's Investors Service in a report published today.
