Business Editors
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2005--Furmanite, a worldwide technical and engineering services company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Xanser Corporation (NYSE:XNR), recently announced a five-year, strategic agreement with Exelon Corporation for on-line leak sealing and safety valve testing services. Exelon Corporation is one of the nation's largest electric utilities with more than $15 billion in annual revenues.
"The new agreement attests to the exceptional service that we continue to receive from Furmanite," said Thomas A. Schnoor, category manager, Exelon Supply Strategic Sourcing. "We know that we can count on Furmanite for its commitment to safety and customer service."
This contract is an addition to Furmanite's existing agreement with Exelon, and extends a partnership between the two companies that dates back 20 years. Specifically, the expanded business includes Exelon's four Eastern nuclear plants and seven fossil plants located in eastern Pennsylvania.
"We are very pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with Exelon. We remain committed to ensuring that we exceed Exelon's expectations and to help meet their production and profitability goals," said Gary Gardner, president of Furmanite's North American operations.
As part of Furmanite's commitment to Exelon and this new agreement, the company is dedicating significant resources to the initiative including opening an East Coast office and relocating employees to the area whose primary responsibilities include servicing Exelon. According to Schnoor, there are tremendous benefits to partnering with a single supplier including cost savings, dedicated service and consistency across all sites.
Furmanite has provided leak sealing, flange pipe and safety valve testing services for Exelon's nuclear and fossil stations in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Texas and New Jersey for many years.
