Why Amazon Stock Is Soaring Today
Shares of Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) are climbing on Wednesday. The company's stock gained 2.6% as of 1:30 p.m. ET and as much as 3.2% earlier in the day. The gain comes as the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX: ^IXIC) were up 0.9% and 1.3%, respectively.The tech behemoth has reportedly made a last-minute offer to acquire the popular short-form video app TikTok.Amazon has submitted a last-minute offer to buy all of TikTok, according to the New York Times. The company has reportedly sent an offer letter to Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, just days before the April 5 deadline for TikTok to find a non-Chinese buyer or face a ban in the United States.
