Weight Watchers Q3 Profit Beats Estimates By $0.10; Raises Earnings Guidance

(RTTNews) - Weight Watchers International, Inc. (WTW) reported third-quarter net income of $21.8 million compared to $37.9 million in the prior year period. EPS was $0.38 compared to $0.67. Excluding charges, net income would have been $22.5 million or $0.39 per share, for the quarter.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.29 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Third-quarter revenues were $273.3 million, down 20.8%, or down 15.6% on a constant currency basis, versus the prior year period. Analysts expected revenue of $266.46 million for the quarter. Total paid weeks were down 15.7% as compared to the prior year period, with an Online paid weeks decline of 16.0% and a meeting paid weeks decline of 15.3%.

The company raised its fiscal 2015 earnings guidance to between $0.64 and $0.74 per share, from between $0.57 and $0.72 per share.
