Wayne Barton Study Center Establishes Casa Herbalife to Promote Healthy Nutrition
The Casa Herbalife program was created by the Herbalife FamilyFoundation (HFF) to provide funds to existing non-profit organizationsserving children to improve nutrition-related functions such asupgrading kitchens, appliances or the ability to provide healthierfoods. The Wayne Barton Study Center will use the grant to help covercosts of buying nutritious foods. In addition to increasing the riskof physical health problems that can carry into adulthood, obesity andmalnutrition affect all areas of a child's life including theirbehavior, ability to concentrate, and energy.
Wayne Barton is a retired Boca Raton police officer who startedBarton's Boosters in 1989 to enhance the health, welfare and educationof children in need in Florida's South County. The center emphasizesacademic development, counseling and nutritional needs, study skills,living skills, citizenship in a multicultural society and recreationalactivities. Approximately 150 children and teens, aged 12-18 areserved by the center every day.
Herbalife CEO Michael O. Johnson, who also sits on the board ofHFF, will visit the center with independent distributors LeslieStanford and Blake Morgan to meet some of the children and presentBarton with the HFF donation.
HFF is supported by Herbalife (NYSE: HLF) and its independentdistributors and employees. After the initial grant, the companypromotes the involvement of local independent distributors andemployees at the charities.
Other Casa Herbalife programs have been established in thefollowing locations: the original orphanage HFF built in Rio deJaneiro, Brazil, from which the programs gets its name; A Place CalledHome in South Central, Los Angeles; Atlanta Children's Shelter;Associacao Casa Da Crianca De Santos in Brazil; Aga Children's Home inHungary; Singapore Children's Society in Singapore; Kobe JitsugyoGakuin in Japan; NAIM Corporation in Santiago, Chile; and the RumahBakti Hulu Kelang (RBHK) in Malaysia. HFF will continue to roll outthis program worldwide.
Since its inception in 1994, HFF has donated over $6.5 million inover 25 countries around the world to support children in need, aswell as assist victims of disasters.
