UMB Promotes Dennis Triplett to CEO of UMB Healthcare Services

UMB Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: UMBF) is pleased to announce the promotion of Dennis Triplett to chief executive officer of UMB Healthcare Services. In this new role, Triplett will be responsible for guiding all facets of Healthcare Services, including defining strategy, product development, operations and customer service.

Triplett has been with UMB for 25 years and served in a variety of roles, including president of the South Region Banking Center; executive vice president of Lending Services; vice president of Retail Services; and for the past five years, president of Healthcare Services.

Triplett architected the bank’s Health Savings Account (HSA) program and currently serves as Chairman of the HSA Leadership Council for America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), Chairman of the Employer’s Council on Flexible Spending (ECFC), and is a charter member of the HSA Council of American Bankers Association and the American Bankers Insurance Association

"Dennis has vast industry knowledge and renowned national presence. This, coupled with his 30-year banking career, makes him an invaluable resource,” said UMB chief operating officer Peter deSilva. "Dennis’ leadership has and will continue to elevate our success and involvement in the healthcare services market place.”

UMB Healthcare Services recently announced a company milestone by exceeding one million health spending accounts, making UMB one of the nation's top custodians for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), and provider of card solutions for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs).

Additionally, as of Dec. 31, 2008, total assets for UMB’s Health Savings Accounts surpassed $140 million - a 40 percent increase from the previous year. The company attributes its growth to a proven business model that blends experienced staff, high-level customer service and adaptable products to directly answer customer needs. UMB also recently formalized a Healthcare Steering Committee to provide additional oversight.

The committee, led by Terry D’Amore as chairman and Triplett as chief executive officer, serves to provide further oversight and guidance as this continues to be a strategic growth area. Also serving on the committee are chief operating officer Peter deSilva, chief financial officer Mike Hagedorn, director of Financial Services and Support Daryl Hunt and steering committee secretary Linda Brockman.

"Healthcare Services continues to be a growing part of our business and a true UMB success story,” said deSilva. "As this part of our business continues to increase, strategically putting this structure in place is key in fulfilling the growth potential and unique needs of this market.”
