U.S. Bancorp Women Named Top Banking Team in the Nation for Third Year in a Row

U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) has been ranked number one in the nation for the third consecutive year as the "Top Banking Team by U.S. Banker magazine as part of its annual ranking of The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking, published in the October issue (www.us-banker.com). U.S. Banker, a SourceMedia publication, also selected three U.S. Bancorp women for individual recognition in "The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking and "Women to Watch categories.

The team ranking is based on the companys overall financial performance, percentage of women corporate officers and management committee members, number of senior women executives, financial performance of women-led business units and feedback from analysts on women leading high-growth business units.

Pam Joseph, vice chairman of payment services, and Diane Thormodsgard, vice chairman of wealth management and securities services, were both named among the most powerful women in banking. Joseph ranked fourth and Thormodsgard ranked fourteenth. Leslie Godridge, executive vice president and head of national corporate and institutional banking, ranked eighth in the "Women to Watch category.

"The outstanding performance of women-led businesses is commendable given that it has occurred against an industry backdrop of unprecedented challenge, change and opportunity, said Holly Sraeel, editorial director of U.S. Banker.

The magazine also notes that U.S. Bancorps strong performance in todays difficult economic environment has been "buffered, clearly, by the performances of the bank's highest-ranking women.

"The high caliber of talent and hard work this senior team demonstrates is evident to all of us here at U.S. Bancorp who work beside them every day, said Richard Davis, chairman, president and chief executive officer at U.S. Bancorp. "Their efforts and contributions are a significant part of what make this such an outstanding company.
