Tesla's Musk: No More Special Discounts

(RTTNews) - Electric car maker Tesla's Chief Elon Musk confirmed that there will be no discount on new cars. Through several tweets and an email addressing its employees, Musk said, "It is absolutely vital that we adhere to the no negotiation and no discount policy that has been true since we first started taking orders 10 years ago."

Tesla that follows a direct sales model said that no discount policy is fundamental to its integrity and maintained it even through the terrible depths of the great recession of 2008/2009.

However, Musk said floor models and those vehicles used for testing or damaged during delivery will be sold at a discount.

Clarifying his point, Tesla chief said he always pays full price when he buys a car and the same applies to his family, friends and celebrities, no matter how famous or influential.

Replying to criticism, Musk tweeted that corrective action had been taken on discounting of new vehicles.
