Rite Aid Raises $4.9 Million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in 2010

Rite Aid raised $4.9 million in 2010 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals®. The money raised by Rite Aid funds life-saving medical care, research, education and outreach programs at 117 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the communities Rite Aid serves.

Throughout the year, Rite Aid associates across the country sell $1 paper Miracle Balloons with 100% of the proceeds going to the local Children's Miracle Network hospital in their community. In addition to selling balloons, Rite Aid associates hold special events like antique car shows, bowling tournaments and parking lot carnivals to raise even more funds for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

"There are more than 100 children's hospitals across the country that benefit from the incredible generosity of Rite Aid associates and customers," said John Lauck, president and CEO, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. "Rite Aid associates continue to demonstrate their commitment to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in their communities year after year, with an especially impressive $4.9 million raised in 2010."

Since 1994, Rite Aid has raised over $46 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Formerly known as Children’s Miracle Network, in January, the non-profit organization added the word "Hospitals” to the end of its name as part of a re-branding campaign designed to better convey its mission of raising money and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals throughout North America.

Rite Aid (NYSE: RAD) is one of the nation’s leading drugstore chains with more than 4,700 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia and fiscal 2010 annual revenues of $25.7 billion.
