Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) is gaining 7 percent to $49.85. Vodafone Group Plc. (VOD, VOD.L) confirmed that it is in discussions with Verizon regarding the possible disposal of its 45 percent stake in Verizon Wireless joint venture. VOD is up 8 percent to $31.88.

Guess' Inc. (GES) is surging 15 percent to $31.55 and Perceptron, Inc. (PRCP) is jumping 30 percent to $11.24 following the release of their quarterly results.

Decliners:

Signet Jewelers Ltd. (SIG) is down over 3 percent to $67.25. The company's second quarter profit fell from the same period prior year. Sales improved, but missed the consensus estimate. The company also forecast third quarter earnings below Street view.
