PPL Corporation to Host 6th Annual Black Bass Workshop at Lake Wallenpaupack

ALLENTOWN, Pa., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Bass anglers, biologists, conservation officers, resource and facility managers and all others interested in black bass conservation are welcome to attend the sixth annual Pennsylvania/New York Black Bass Workshop to be hosted by PPL at the Lake Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center May 5 and 6.

"Assessing Black Bass Resources" is the theme of the conference, which focuses on fisheries and habitat assessment. Discussions on black bass management methods in Pennsylvania and New York waters are planned, along with "Keeping Bass Alive," "Black Bass Health Issues" and "Fishing During the Spawn."

Sponsors of the workshop are the Pennsylvania Bass Federation, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the New York Bass Federation, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

PPL's Lake Wallenpaupack Environmental Learning Center is part of the company's Wallenpaupack hydroelectric project, built in 1926 near Hawley, Pa. The Wallenpaupack plant serves as an important electric generating facility in times of high electricity demand. The lake, 13 miles long and about 60 feet at its maximum depth, offers year-round recreation, including camping, fishing, boating and water skiing.
