PlayStation Vue $50 Streaming TV Debuts In Three Cities
(RTTNews) - Sony's PlayStation Vue officially launched Wednesday in Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia on PS4 and PS3.
PlayStation Vue is a new service that combines live and on-demand TV, and a cloud based DVR to stream the best TV shows, movies and sports directly to the console without a cable or satellite subscription.
PlayStation Vue is initially available on PS4 and PS3 in Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia. Subscribers can choose from 3 plans - Access ($49.99/month), Core ($59.99/month) and Elite ($69.99/month). The "Access" plan offers more than 50 channels, including CBS, Fox and NBC. The "Core" and "Elite" plans offer more channels. ABC, ESPN and the Disney Channel, are not part of the service.
PlayStation Vue is expected to be launched in more U.S. cities soon. The company also said it will bring PlayStation Vue to iPad in the near future.
With PlayStation Vue, Sony joins a growing number of media, technology and telecoms companies, including Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Dish Network Corp. (DISH), offering web-based TV streaming services that are aimed at a growing number of people who pay for Internet but do not subscribe for television.
