'Pharma Bro' Selling Rare Wu-Tang Album On E-Bay

(RTTNews) - Notorious "Pharma bro" Martin Shkreli is selling off his one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album on E-bay.

"Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" is a double album by the New York hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan, which was limited to a single copy sold in 2015. The only copy of the album was purchased by Shkreli for $2 million, but is now listed for sale on E-bay at a deep discount.

However, a legal agreement by Wu-Tang Clan with Shkreli had stated that the album cannot be commercially exploited until 2103, although it can be released for free or played during listening parties.

The E-bay ad includes Shkreli's photograph holding the album, along with a written note that included Tuesday's date and the words "Selling WTC album." The listing describes the album condition as "like new" and states that "this is the one and only Wu-Tang album."

The sale includes the album's double CD and a "finely crafted booklet." At the time of publication, the bid price was hovering around $100,000. The auction is set to last until September 15.

However, Shkreli has also warned in the listing that he may cancel the sale at any time and may even break the album in frustration.

But if the sale is successful, Shkreli has pledged to pay up to $25,000 in legal fees "to ensure the final purchase details are mutually agreeable."

In September 2015, Shkreli received widespread criticism when his company Turing Pharmaceuticals obtained the manufacturing license for the potentially life-saving anti-parasitic prescription drug Daraprim and raised its price from $13.50 to $750 per pill, leading him to be referred to as "the most hated man in America" and "pharma bro."

Shkreli was arrested by the FBI in December 2015 after being indicted on federal charges of securities fraud. He subsequently resigned as CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals.

Last month, Shkreli was convicted of two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiring to commit securities fraud. He faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced.
