SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2005--New Boundary Technologies(R), a provider of automated IT management and security solutions, today announced it has joined the Network Admission Control (NAC) program, an industry effort led by Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO). New Boundary Technologies made the announcement at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, where it debuted Policy Commander(TM), the company's newest security configuration compliance solution. As a member of the NAC program, New Boundary will integrate Policy Commander with the Cisco Trust Agent and other NAC components to deliver automated security policy enforcement for a NAC-enabled environment.
NAC is a Cisco-sponsored industry initiative that uses the network infrastructure to enforce security level compliance on all devices seeking to access network computing resources. Using NAC, organizations can provide network access to remote endpoint devices such as PCs, laptops and servers that are verified to be fully compliant with established security standards. NAC can also identify non-compliant devices and deny them access, place them in a quarantined area, or give them restricted access to computing resources.
"Cisco is pleased to welcome New Boundary Technologies to the NAC program," said Russell Rice, director of product marketing in the Security Technology Group (STG) at Cisco Systems. "New Boundary's Policy Commander solution will bring to the NAC program security configuration compliance capabilities that will help provide automated security policy enforcement."
NAC is a key component of the Cisco Self-Defending Network, Cisco's security strategy to help customers identify, adapt and prevent Internet security threats.
"Policy Commander will help organizations secure their networks and protect them from the risks associated with remote network access," said Kim Pearson, president and chief executive officer of New Boundary Technologies. "Our extensive expertise in computer configuration management and our mature technologies perfectly position New Boundary to provide innovative solutions that automate security configuration management. Our participation in the program allows us to deliver a solution that will integrate with Cisco NAC-enabled components to help validate security policy compliance for remote users."
Using Policy Commander in a NAC-enabled infrastructure, organizations can:
-- | Check if computers seeking to enter the network are compliant with security policies. |
-- | Enforce necessary security settings before allowing users to access the network. |
Because it delivers continuous security policy enforcement, Policy Commander is a powerful configuration management foundation for companies required to comply with information security components of regulatory measures. Policy Commander dramatically improves information and IT infrastructure security, inspiring greater confidence in investors, customers, partners, employees and other stakeholders, which can create a powerful competitive advantage. Currently in beta testing, Policy Commander is scheduled for release by the end of March 2005.
