Meyer Burger achieves highest category in new Italian renewable energy incentive program and signs first supply agreement for Italy with IBC SOLAR

  • Meyer Burger’s high-performance modules qualify for the highest subsidy rate under Italy’s "Transizione 5.0" incentive program
  • First supply agreement signed with IBC SOLAR for "Made in Germany" modules from stock, with further discussions ongoing with major distributors in Italy

High-performance solar modules from Meyer Burger Technology AG have been officially recognized as eligible for subsidies under Italy’s "Transizione 5.0" program. Full-service provider IBC SOLAR and Meyer Burger have now signed an initial agreement for the supply of "Made in Germany" modules for the Italian market. The modules were manufactured at the company’s plant in Freiberg, Saxony, Germany, and remain available in sufficient quantities.

Meyer Burger is in discussions with additional potential customers regarding supply agreements for the Italian market. Meyer Burger’s modules are the only ones on the market that qualify for the highest subsidy category C, enabling customers to receive a maximum tax credit, which can cover approximately two-thirds of total project costs. Under a new regulation, the Italian government is providing strong incentives for solar projects that use modules manufactured in Europe. This regulation is part of the "Transizione 5.0" program, which aims to support companies in their digital and energy transformation.

To qualify for the highest subsidy category C, solar modules must meet the following criteria: they must be manufactured in European Union member states, use bifacial solar cells that are also produced in the European Union, and have a minimum solar cell efficiency of 24 percent.
