GM Testing Its Own Ride-Sharing Service
(RTTNews) - General Motors is planning to launch a new car sharing service. The personal mobility brand will be known as Maven. Earlier the car maker has invested 350 million pounds in Lyft, a driverless taxi research and ride sharing firm.
GM has assigned 40 employees to test the Maven project in Ann Arbor in Michigan and 21 vehicles will be available for on-demand renting.
The car can be booked using a smartphone and it will be available when they arrive at the destination. The company said that each vehicle will provide an ownership like experience with the convenience of car sharing.
Dan Ammann, president of GM said its association with Lyft and vehicle connectivity service OnStar, will help it to be uniquely positioned to provide personalized mobility service to its customers.
GM has plans to expand the car sharing service to Chicago and New York.
