GE/NBC Universal’s Peacock Equity Adds Two Board Members

Peacock Equity, a joint investment fund of GE Capital’s Media, Communications & Entertainment business and NBC Universal, today announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors. The additions are Lauren Zalaznick, president of NBC Universal Women and Lifestyle Entertainment Networks, and Jessica Schell, Senior Vice President, NBC Universal Digital Strategy and Business Development. Ben Silverman, who recently announced that he is leaving NBCU, is resigning from the Peacock board.

"This is a terrific opportunity for me to bring a business operator's perspective to the table as we consider future investments that meet NBCU's strategic needs," said Lauren Zalaznick, President, NBC Universal Women and Lifestyle Entertainment Networks. "I am honored to join the board, and look forward to working with its members as we continue to invest in the future growth of the NBCU businesses."

"The Peacock investments are not only fundamentally sound, they also support cutting-edge technologies that NBCU is using to drive growth in its various businesses,” said Jessica Schell. "I look forward to working even more closely with the Peacock Equity Fund.”

Michael Chen, President, Media, Communications & Entertainment, GE Capital and Executive Board Member, Peacock Equity Fund, said, "I am so excited to have these two talented NBCU executives, Lauren Zalaznick and Jessica Schell, join our Peacock Equity Board. Their appointments will accelerate the momentum we have created by the fund’s initial ten investments. Lauren's business acumen and her success in growing many of NBC Universal's cable properties, including Bravo and Oxygen, will provide invaluable insight to our board. In addition, Jessica’s knowledge about digital technologies and key NBCU operational linkages will help guide Peacock Equity Fund's future investments."

In addition to Zalaznick, Schell and Chen, the Peacock Equity board consists of Stuart Aronson, President, Sponsor Finance, GE Capital, Tom Byrne, Managing Director & Fund Manager, Peacock Equity, Lynn Calpeter, CFO, NBCU, John Eck, President, NBC TV Network & Media Works, Patrick Kocsi, Senior Managing Director, Equity, GE Capital, Salil Mehta, President, NBCU Business Operations Strategy & Development, Jean-Briac (JB) Perrette, President, Digital & Affiliate Distribution and Content Distribution Strategy, NBCU, and Jim Ungari, Chief Risk Officer, Americas, GE Capital.
