Ford S-Max's New Device Recognizes Speed Limit Signs

(RTTNews) - No more worries about speed cameras and expensive tickets for speeding up on a motorway, if you are driving a Ford S-Max car. The built-in Intelligent Speed Limiter is capable of automatically detecting speed limit signs, cameras and slowing down the vehicle.

The S-Max 7-seater sports activity vehicle, with cameras on its windshield, can detect road signs and limit its speed by adjusting fuel injected into the engine, rather than applying the brakes. However, a hard press on the accelerator can override the speed limiter.

There is a provision in S-Max to set a maximum speed for the vehicle and get an alarm when the car exceeds that limit. An advanced system could also identify pedestrians on road and warn of a probable collision.
