Fisher Biosciences Collaborates with Dyomics to Add Fluorescent Reagents for Protein Research

Based in Jena, Germany, Dyomics is a leader in fluorescent-dyechemistry. Its products are used in a number of scientific-research,drug-discovery and diagnostic applications -- including Westernblotting, multiplex detection of proteins and nucleic acids, proteininteraction and antibody arrays, quantitative PCR (polymerase chainreaction), and cellular imaging.

When used as markers for proteins and other biomolecules such asDNA and RNA, fluorescent dyes help scientists map protein pathways tobetter understand the underlying mechanisms of disease.

Fisher Biosciences is a unit of Fisher Scientific InternationalInc., which recently acquired an equity interest in Dyomics. Thistransaction strengthens the existing relationship between the twocompanies, which had previously partnered in the development of FisherBiosciences' protein-research products sold under the DyLight(TM)brand.
