Fairchild Semiconductor Slips To Loss In Q4; Issues Q1 Sales Outlook

(RTTNews) - Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. (FCS) Thursday reported fourth-quarter net loss of $42.7 million or $0.36 per share, compared to net income of $0.9 million or $0.01 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Excluding certain items, adjusted net income for the latest fourth quarter was $11.9 million or $0.10 per share, down from $13.5 million or $0.11 per share in the prior year period. On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters estimated the company's earnings to be $0.15 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Quarterly sales declined 1 percent to $336.6 million from $341.1 million a year ago, while 11 analysts expected revenue of $350.16 million.

Looking ahead, for the first quarter, the group expects net sales to be in the range of $340 million - $360 million. Analysts are estimating revenues of $352.07 million.
