Fairchild Semiconductor Q3 Profit Down - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Fairchild Semiconductor(FCS), a supplier of power semiconductors, Thursday reported a decrease in third quarter net income, reflecting higher expenses, that offset the increase in revenues. However, earnings per share surpassed the Street estimates.

For the three-month period, the company reported net income of $12.1 million or $0.09 per share, compared with $24.7 million or $0.19 per share last year.

Adjusted net income for the quarter was $21.4 million or $0.17 per share. On average, fourteen analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings per share of $0.12 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Total revenues increased to $364.6 million, from prior year's $356.5 million last year. The Street expected the company to generate revenues of $363.09 million for the quarter.

Total operating expenses were $102.2 million, compared with $93.7 million a year earlier.

For the fourth-quarter, the company expects sales to be in the range of between $335 million to $350 million. Analysts expect the company to report revenues of $368.09 million.
