EMC Corp Reveals 5% Rise In Q2 Profit

(RTTNews) - EMC Corp (EMC) reported a profit for its second quarter that rose from last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $888 million, or $0.450 per share. This was higher than $845 million, or $0.433 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.42 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 0.8% to $6.02 billion. This was down from $6.07 billion last year.
