Dobson Communications Corporation Introduces The New BlackBerry 7100g and BlackBerry 7290

    Business Editors/High-Tech Editors

OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2005--Dobson Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:DCEL) today announced the latest addition to Dobson's portfolio of BlackBerry(R) products by introducing the BlackBerry 7100g(TM) and the BlackBerry 7290 Wireless Handheld(TM).
Both Blackberry(R) devices, developed and manufactured by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq:RIMM) (TSX:RIM), are now available at Dobson's more than 250 retail locations that are located in 16 states.
The BlackBerry 7100g(TM) is an innovative business phone that delivers the power of BlackBerry in a stylish 'candy-bar' mobile phone design. It features the entire range of popular BlackBerry applications including mobile phone, email, text messaging, organizer, browsing and corporate data capabilities.
The BlackBerry 7100g(TM) features RIM's breakthrough SureType(TM) keyboard technology that converges a phone keypad and a QWERTY keyboard to fit elegantly within the size constraints of a traditional 'candy bar' phone design. The integrated keyboard and software system provides an instinctively familiar look and feel and allows users to dial phone numbers and type messages quickly, accurately and comfortably. Replacing the need for the traditional multi-tap phone approach, SureType fundamentally changes the way people think about typing on mobile phones.
In addition to a large and bright, high-resolution color screen, the BlackBerry 7100g(TM) incorporates an integrated speakerphone that is ideal for conference calls, Bluetooth(R) support for wireless headsets and car-kits and a quad-band radio for international roaming. It also features 32MB flash memory, 4MB SRAM and polyphonic ring tone support.
"We are proud to be the first rural operator in the nation to bring these innovative BlackBerry(R) products and services to our customers," said Timothy Duffy, Dobson's senior vice president of engineering and chief technical officer. "Our business users have been extremely receptive to the initial suite of BlackBerry(R) products and services and the two new handhelds will only solidify our position as the business carrier of choice in rural America."
The Java-based BlackBerry 7290(TM) combines phone, email, text messaging, organizer, web, and corporate data applications in a single handheld. The high-resolution screen displays crisp images with support for more than 65,000 colors while the handheld continues to offer superior battery life for optimal wireless performance. The BlackBerry 7290(TM) also features cradle-free wireless email synchronization, integrated attachment viewing (including support for popular file and image formats such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, PDF, ASCII JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF and PNG) and remote address look up in addition to secure, push-based wireless connectivity.
For individuals and smaller businesses, BlackBerry Internet Service(TM) allows users to access up to ten corporate and/or personal email accounts (including Microsoft(R) Exchange, IBM Lotus(R) Domino(TM) and many popular ISP email accounts) from a single device.
For corporate customers, BlackBerry Enterprise Server(TM) software tightly integrates with Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Domino and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based, wireless access to email and other corporate data. The BlackBerry 7100g (TM)supports the full functionality of the recently introduced BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0(TM).
