Disney Workers Sick Of Low Wages

(RTTNews) - Members of unions representing Walt Disney World employees have voted overwhelmingly to reject Disney's current contract offer, after months of bargaining between both parties.

About 93 percent of dues-paying members who voted turned down the two-year contract.

Disney's new contract would have given employees a 6 to 10 percent raise over two years, an immediate 50-cent hourly wage increase and a $200 ratification payment.

Currently, new Disney employees earn $10 an hour, but the union wants to raise average worker pay to $15 an hour.

In a statement, Disney agreed that employees deserve a raise. "We are disappointed that the union rejected our fair and reasonable offer of a 6 to 10 percent wage increase over the next two years and we will continue to work with the union on negotiations," a Disney spokeswoman said in a statement, according to Orlando Sentinel.
