Disney Names Successor To Departing Jay Resulo

(RTTNews) - Media and entertainment giant Walt Disney Co. (DIS) said Tuesday that Christine McCarthy, the company's Treasurer for the past 15 years, will succeed James Rasulo as Chief Financial Officer.

Disney announced earlier this month that Rasulo, a 29-year company veteran, would step down as CFO at the end of the month.

"Christine has done an incredible job as Disney's Treasurer over the past 15 years, and her strong leadership and keen financial acumen make her an ideal Chief Financial Officer," said Robert Iger, Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "She is highly respected in the finance sector, and in this new role she will have even more impact on creating value for Disney shareholders."

The Burbank, California-based company also said Tuesday that it has appointed Kevin Mayer as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer.

Mayer, who has served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development since 2005, will now oversee Corporate Strategy, Business Development, Acquisitions, Enterprise Information Technology, Innovation, Brand and Franchise Management, and Global Corporate Alliances.

McCarthy will report directly to Iger. Mayer, who previously reported to the CFO, will now jointly report to Iger and Chief Operating Officer Thomas Staggs.

Both the appointments are effective immediately.

Disney shares are currently trading at $114.40, up 1.35 or 1.19%.
