Sto acquires Liaver GmbH & Co. KG

Acquisition provides access to strategically important raw material as well as to acoustic and board materials

Stühlingen, 18 December 2018 - Sto SE & Co. KGaA, one of the leading manufacturers of products and systems for building coatings worldwide, has acquired, through one of its subsidiaries, 100 % of the limited partnership shares of Liaver GmbH & Co. KG as well as all company shares of Liaver Beteiligungen GmbH. The acquisition will become economically effective at the beginning of the 2019 fiscal year.

Liaver is located in Ilmenau, a city in the German state of Thuringia, and has 47 employees. The company is one of the few German manufacturers of expanded glass granulates made of recycled waste glass. Furthermore, the company has specialised in the use of this material in various areas of application and hence offers a very good depth of added value. With its highly sound-absorbing, non-combustible, and fibre-free acoustic products, which are sold under the product name 'Reapor', Liaver has earned itself a solid international position as an innovative supplier. Since 2018, the company has also been manufacturing shipbuilding boards with excellent properties. These boards are offered under the product name 'Liatec'.

The Sto Group uses environmentally friendly and sustainable expanded glass granulates on a large scale in several products. With the Liaver products, the Sto Group will expand its own comprehensive portfolio and promote to its innovative strength. In future, Liaver will, in turn, benefit from the Group's sales strength.

Sto SE & Co. KGaA is a major international manufacturer of products and systems for building coatings. The company is a leader in the business field of external wall insulation systems. Sto's core product range also includes high-quality facade elements, as well as renders, plasters and paints for building exteriors and interiors alike. There is also a focus on concrete repair, floor coatings, acoustics, and rainscreen cladding systems.
