Deutsche Angestellten Krankenkasse (DAK) Selects Healthways to Implement Programs for Members with Chronic Diseases
Healthways International GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Healthways
(NASDAQ: HWAY) and the Deutsche Angestellten Krankenkasse (DAK) have
announced a three-year agreement to provide Healthways Health and Care
SupportSM Programs to DAK members with chronic
diseases in two regions of Germany (Bavaria and Baden-Württemburg),
beginning January 1, 2008.
The agreement marks Healthways’ first
international contract and reflects the Company’s
continued commitment and vision to delivering proven solutions tailored
to the unique health needs of individuals around the world.
"Over the next few years, the goal of the DAK
is to demonstrate the value of world class, patient-centered services in
improving the health of patients living with chronic disease. This
program puts us on a new path to prove that the patient support
programmes delivered by Healthways will make it easier for people to
manage their chronic conditions and improve their health care experience,”
said DAK CEO, Prof. Dr. Herbert Rebscher.

Through this agreement with the DAK, Healthways will provide health
support and chronic disease management services with targeted,
personalised interventions for approximately 50,000 patients with heart
disease and respiratory conditions. Healthways’
solutions provide self care, web-based and one-on-one telephonic support
that empowers patients to become active participants in the management
of their chronic conditions.
