Deep Discount On Tesla Model X Crossover

(RTTNews) - Tesla Motors Inc. (TSLA) has launched a cheaper variant of the Model X SUV. The new Model X 60D is priced at $74,000, about $9,000 less than the Model X 75D.

This is the second time the electric car maker has launched a cheaper version of its cars after missing sales targets. Last month, Tesla had started selling a low-cost Model S sedan for $60,000. Tesla missed its sales targets for the second consecutive quarter, and is also expected to fall short of its full-year goal of 80,000-90,000 vehicles.

Model X 60D with a 60kWh battery has less torque and a shorter range between charges than the 75D. The new 60D gives up to 200 miles on a full charge, less than the 237 miles range provided by 75D. The 60D will be able to go 0-60 miles per hour in 6.0 seconds and has a top speed of 130 miles per hour.
