(RTTNews) - The Chief Executive Officer of BHP (BHP.AX, BLT.L, BBL, BHP) Andrew Mackenzie's annual pay increased 20% to US$7.092 million from last year.
Mr Mackenzie, who has led the Australian miner since 2013, had a base salary of US$1.7 million, the same as the year prior, but received an additional US$1.2 million bonus and an increase in share-based payments.
New BHP Billiton chairman Ken MacKenzie has promised continued engagement with shareholders and better capital allocation in his first official comments in the role.
"The Board strongly supports the capital allocation framework that your CEO, Andrew Mackenzie, established at the beginning of 2016. "It is however a framework, and since its inception, the Board and management team have been working together to strengthen its application. This work is ongoing."," the chairman said.
The comments were in the company's latest annual report.
