Banc of America Securities Hires David Witzke as an Equity Research An

NEW YORK, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Banc of America Securities LLC (BAS) announced today that it has hired David Witzke, Ph.D., as a principal and equity research analyst. Witzke will be based in New York and work with Biotechnology analyst Michael King to co-cover the Biotechnology sector.

Witzke joins BAS from Suntrust Robinson Humphrey, where he had been a senior equity research analyst covering biotechnology companies since 2003. Prior to that, he was an analyst at Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse First Boston and Salomon Smith Barney.

Witzke brings significant industry experience to his new role at BAS as well, having worked at Cargill Inc. as a senior research engineer in their biotechnology division. Prior to that, he worked as a mathematical modeling specialist in Cargill's Central Research Group and as a research engineer at the Michigan State Biotechnology Institute.

Witzke holds both a Ph.D. and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University, has authored two scientific journal publications regarding the mathematical modeling of bioprocesses and is the co-inventor of ten industrial biotechnology manufacturing patents.

With the addition of Witzke, the BAS Health Care team now consists of 10 analysts covering a diverse array of subsectors tied to the Health Care sector, including Biotechnology; Diagnostic & Research Supplies; Health Care Facilities; Health Care REITs; Health Care Technology & Distribution; Managed Care; Medical Supplies & Devices; Global Major Pharmaceuticals; and Specialty Pharmaceuticals.
