Avnet Electronics Marketing Appoints New Group Financial Officer

The Avnet Electronics Marketing operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) announces the appointment of Bill Crowell as senior vice president and group financial officer, effective immediately. Crowell has been vice president and group financial officer for Avnet Technology Solutions group since 2002. In his new role, he will be responsible for all global finance issues relating to Avnet Electronics Marketing (EM), and will report directly to Harley Feldberg, president of Avnet EM. "Avnet EM is a dynamic global organization, and proper financial management is critical to our success. I am confident Bill will build upon an already strong financial acumen within Avnet EM as we continue to drive value to our partners around the world.” Prior to joining Avnet, Crowell served as chief financial officer, treasurer and secretary of global technology company Microtest, Inc. Before that, he was with Rural/Metro Corporation for eight years, where he was senior vice president, finance and acquisitions, and vice president of financial services. His background includes experience with mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, tax planning and structure, risk management, insurance, strategic planning, treasury management and investor relations. A certified public accountant, Crowell earned his bachelor of science degree in finance and accounting from the University of Arizona and attended the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, Graduate Division. Crowell replaces Dave Parks, who served as Avnet EM senior vice president and group financial officer for the past two and a half years. Parks joined Avnet in 1999, and served as vice president and director of finance for the Americas region, prior to his global role. Parks retired from Avnet, effective March 14.
