AutoNation May Retail Sales Up 5%, Same-store Retail Sales Up 3% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Automotive retailer AutoNation, Inc. (AN) reported that retail new vehicle unit sales for the month of May grew 5 percent to 31,777 from the same month last year.

On a same-store basis, retail new vehicle unit sales for month was up 3 percent.

America's largest automotive retailer reported these figures to automotive manufacturers, based on their respective sales transaction reporting standards.

The company said domestic sales were up 6 percent to 9,878 new vehicles, while imports edged down 1 percent to 15,297 new vehicles from last year. Retail sales for premium luxury new vehicles grew 18 percent to 6,602 from a year ago.

The company also announced that it is celebrating the sale of its 10 millionth vehicle - a milestone no other automotive retailer has achieved - by giving away 3 vehicles, one each in Florida, Texas and California.
