austriamicrosystems Offers Free Software Development Kit for Its Line of Magnetic Rotary Encoder ICs; Speeds Time-to-Market by Simplifying Application Program Development
Delivering on its strategy to provide customers withindustry-leading products, performance excellence and first-classsupport, austriamicrosystems is offering the easy-to-use SDK to helpusers develop customized software quickly and easily for applicationsdeveloped with austriamicrosystems' family of magnetic rotary encoderICs. The SDK enables customers to create powerful demonstrators aswell as application software tailored to their production test andproduct configuration requirements, within the shortest possibletimeframe.
"We know how important it is to provide good customer support,"said Josef Janisch, Product Manager for magnetic rotary encoderproducts at austriamicrosystems. "That is why we decided to provide afree software development kit to help our customers speed up theirdevelopment cycles. This powerful tool will enable them to visualizethe functions of their AS5000-based magnetic rotary encoder ICs in avery simple way and thus develop application software within theshortest time. Now, the design engineer has no need to worry aboutprotocols and communication between the product and his developmentenvironment. That is all handled by the tools we provide."
The SDK is based on a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) that can beembedded in many software platforms, including Microsoft(TM) VisualStudio (C#, C/C++, Visual Basic), Borland C++ Builder or LabView. Anumber of application examples and help files make the SDK very userfriendly.
The SDK supports the entire austriamicrosystems magnetic encoderIC family. These ICs, which contactlessly sense rotary positions via asmall rotating magnet, are ideally suited to harsh environments sincethey are impervious to wear. This makes them ideal for automotive, industrial and many consumer applications. The family includes theAS5035, an 8-bit resolution device with an incremental output, 10-bitdevices with digital and analog outputs (the AS5040 and AS5043respectively), and the AS5045, a 12-bit device with an absolutedigital output.
The software development kit can be downloaded for free from theaustriamicrosystems websitehttp://www.austriamicrosystems.com/03products/20_rotary_encoders.htm
Magnetic Encoder demoboards and IC samples can be convenientlyordered from austriamicrosystems' online shop ICdirecthttps://shop.austriamicrosystems.com
